Röyksopp - This Must Be It (Apparat Remix)

Röyksopp's original release This Must Be It, features female vocals over a bed of futuristic synth chords and driving rhythms. The Apparat Remix, featured here, brings a lot of new elements to the table. While respecting the harmonics of the original, Apparat creates an experimental and intriguing atmosphere with a bass-heavy ensemble, including filtered strings, digital effects and percussive layers. On occasion the backing is dropped to introduce minimally-accompanied moments of calm, as the distinctive vocals are allowed to play out. These sections contrast effectively with the intensely driven electronic phrases. Overall, there's a sophistication to the production on offer that makes for an impressive revisiting of the original.
