Timo Maas - Bite The Dust (Original Mix)

Timo Mass, electronic icon and German DJ, returns with Bite The Dust. This is a track that ventures into film score territory in terms of its atmospheric creations. Yet it's exploring fairly dark terrain. There are no luscious melodies or soothing strings here. Instead it's a track that centers on a looped, hypnotic piano motif and powerful driving percussion. Most interesting is the use of digital effects. Maas explores all kinds of experimental sounds from demonic vocal samples to digital distortion. And despite Bite The Dust's repetitious nature, there are a number of percussive highs and lows as dancefloor dark and shade are contrasted. Maas is creating something very unique with this production. It's an attempt to explore darker tones and create an experience. And with his use of experimental instrumentation and harmonics, Mass succeeds in forming a kind of abstract journey that is both memorable and alluring.
