Richard Durand - No Way Home
Having made his mark as a solo producer with the big tech trance bombs Make Me Scream and Slipping Away the 2007 follow-ups Sweap And Repeat and Submerge found playlist support from Paul van Dyk, Tiƫsto and others. The rest was easy. No Way Home works as a follow up to Always The Sun. It's a track that really has it all. The perfect hybrid of commercial pop and quality trance, even if it's a little too populist for some in the DJ world. The whole production combines high-caliber composition, bleak in tone, with first class production values. The chorus is reflective and restrained, with some tasteful musical choices based around a descending minor theme. Overall, it's a meloncholic and pleasant trance tune accessible to a wide audience.
