Malente - I Like It (Riva Starr Mix)

As the title may suggest, I Like It from German DJ and producer Malente uses the catchy vocal phrase from KC & The Sunshine Band's seventies hit That's The Way I Like It. It's a simple enough premise that works because of the recognition factor - feeding a dancefloor a hook that they know, in a freshly produced package. Here, Brit DJ Riva Starr delivers a remix that's arguably better than the original. Playing upon the recognizability of the vocal motif, Starr teases it effectively, using small looped snippets that keep listener anticipations high. Also on offer are well-crafted filtered effects and crowd-friendly crescendos that make for some high-energy dancefloor mayhem. The original mix is here.
