Calvin Harris - Flashback (Eric Prydz Remix)

This is an absolutely first rate remix from Eric Pyrdz. On the most basic level he takes the quirky and chipper Calvin Harris original and turns it into a dark and powerful adrenaline-fueled tech-house production. In dancefloor terms, one of the most explosive moments of the remix comes early on (1:36). A speaker-juddering bassline fleshes out a tension bed of synth sustains and arpeggios. From here Prydz allows some variation to creep in, as subtle harmonies couple with the first full instance of the lyrics. Another major dancefloor turning point comes later as a sonic grow (4:44) leads to a complex multi-layered development of the central chord structure. Overall, there's such atmosphere to this Flashback reworking that it provides a compelling and in some ways superior alternative to the original.
