Faithless - Sun To Me (Gui Boratto Remix)
Brazilian producer Gui Boratto was responsible for one my favorite tracks of 2009, Beautiful Life. Here, he gives the Faithless hit Sun To Me the remix treatment. Boratto reaches a nice middle ground with his version. It respectfully retains much of the original but brings a lot to the table in the process. Creating an alluring and dramatic minor-key atmosphere, pulsing kick-drum patterns, a driving bassline and synth counter-melodies combine with impressive effect. The sparse use of lyrics ("you're the sun to me" hits sporadically) strengthens the production and adds to its atmospheric pull. Overall, tastefully repackaged.
