True Identity - Steppenwolf
True Identity is the alter-ego of DJ and producer Leo Melcherts. "What I love in music and what I try to bring across are melodic lines with a phat beat underneath" says Melcherts. Well, he succeeded with his first release on Seb Ingrosso's label, Refune. Steppenwolf uses a minor key melody applied with unique instrumentation to produce a very atmospheric opening. Its floating and reflective tone, complimented by production panache, makes for some intriguing listening. And later, the bassline-driven house percussion with digital effects displays Melcherts' solid understanding of making a dancefloor move. Well worth checking out.
