Desktop - Liberty

Desktop are a new electronic pop duo featuring Keith Thompson of absurdist heavyweights Electric 6 and Johnny Headband and Zach Curd of Suburban Sprawl Music’s The Pop Project. A pretty fitting description for Desktop is being somewhere between Stevie Wonder, New Order and old-school Detroit techno. Liberty takes it's male-vocal driven chorus ("do whatever you want") and couples it with a retro descending bassline. Later, this is developed further with synth counter-melodies and some interesting harmonies. I particularly like the vocal arrangements throughout the track that lend a New Order sensibility to the electronic proceedings. Overall, well-produced and distinctive material.
