Basement Jaxx ft. Jose James - Gimme Somethin' True

Basement Jaxx, as you probably know, are the UK duo Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe. They started in Brixton, South London in 1994, where they held a regular club night called Rooty, (the name of their second artist album). Gimme Somethin' is an interesting production. Taking flavors from a variety of sources, there are hints of Spanish guitar, electronic tech-house instrumentation and a nod to Ennio Moricone with the use of brass and bold descending chord patterns. New York's Jose James sings "because the magic is the music and the music is my melody" in a particularly powerful phrase, as musically everything comes together to form a catchy chorus. Out now on the Scars album from Ultra records.
