Miike Snow - Sylvia

Sylvia's the kind of track you want to be listening to on a reflective Sunday afternoon. Swedish band, Miike Snow (apparently named after Japanese director Takashi Miike) produce a fantastic range of music if you're not familiar with them. Syliva works as a stand-alone song, but also brings with it an electronic sensibility that would work in the right DJ set. A simple piano-based motif acts as a backing to the emotion fuelled vocals that kick things off. From here the production remains calm until an interestingly retrospective percussion break strikes (1:20). From this point onwards, the simple chord structure from the start is complicated and built upon. This makes for some ear-pleasing and powerfully emotive listening. Overall, a strong track.
