Fabrizio Maurizi - Daddy Diego
Out of Bologna, Italy - Fabrizio Maurizi's minimalist tech house production is both atmospheric and innovative. Exploring dark tones, atonal electronic motifs make for some rather uneasy listening. Sound effects and digital manipulation add to the atmosphere as pounding house percussion keeps the material moving forward at a moderate tech-house tempo. My favourite touches are the reverb-soaked vocal samples, (eg 8:24), that conjure images of modal cathedral choirs, albeit in a distorted and slightly demonic way. Overall, an enigmatic and well constructed production.
