Affkt & Fiddo - El Baladre

Superbly fresh from Affkt and Fiddo. A funk-fuelled jazz inspired bassline is coupled with manic percussive layers: cowbells, funky breakbeats, on-the-beat cymbal hits and more. This starts things off nicely but the real magic begins when a sample of a saxophone ensemble is introduced. It creates a warm and recognizable hook that's also a nod to the jazz theme of the track. Nice to see piano chords being introduced in a particularly subtle way, also. There's so much to this production that it takes several plays to truly appreciate everything that went into making it special. Overall this a first class production, the real mastery being in its subtlety and restraint. Thumbs up.
