Out now on Anabatic Records, a percussive powerhouse designed for the dancefloors. What got my interest was an almost complete absence of music in any traditional sense. There's no key structure or clearly definable harmony, although a music of sorts is created with samples. The track relies heavily on relentless drum loops that are stacked high with bongo drums and sub-bass elements. The main course, however, are the reverb-filled brass samples that punctuate throughout, reaching a well-designed climax in the middle section. Overall, there's an interesting tone to Concumbia - an intense drumming experience with a light flavor of jazz - thumbs up!
